Thurston Middle School is a place where every student, every day has the opportunity to grow personally, socially, and academically, to practice excellence, and to reach their full potential as students and citizens. Our mission is to create a place where students want to learn and staff want to work so that all students graduate prepared for a bright and successful future.


As part of our commitment to growth and excellence, students at Thurston Middle School will:

  • Receive standards-based instruction in core subjects.
  • Engage in a rich social-emotional curriculum and learn skills in decision making, emotional regulation, and relationship building.
  • Participate in a robust elective program which includes digital and print art, Spanish, music, physical education, and industrial technology.

Our teaching staff are committed to providing equitable outcomes for all students through rigorous, standards-aligned instruction and learning spaces that embrace and affirm the dignity of each student at Thurston Middle School.
